ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
ALEX TANNER
Alex is a second generation firefigher in Northern Illinois. His dedication to the fire service began in 2010, when he joined the Antioch Fire Department (IL), a part-time/volunteer/paid on call organization. He had the privilege to give back to the community he grew up in.
He began instructing by leading their Fire Explorers program, the very same one he was part of. As his passion for teaching continued to grow, he began instructing at a basic firefighter academy. He is honored to have many students who now work all over the country and proud to have an impact on the start of their careers. In addition to instruction, he also held the rank of Lieutenant and acted as a Shift Commander.
In 2018 Alex was hired as a career Firefighter/Paramedic by the Lake Zurich Fire Department (IL). LZFD is a small suburban department with 13-15 personnel on shift per day. With only a handful of years on, he has worked to join the Training, Apparatus and Tactical Committees and holds the rank of firefighter.
Alex is a husband and father to two sons. He believes in honoring and blending the traditions of the fire service with its natural evolution.
